Hot pellets enter through the top of the cooling chamber and move downward while ambient air travels upward through the product bed. This counterflow process gradually removes heat and excess moisture, helping improve pellet durability and prepare the finished product for screening, conveying, packaging or storage. Depending upon pellet size, density, inlet temperature, moisture content and material composition, CME rates the C6 for approximately 3–6 tons per hour.
